What are people’s views about the way Cerra and Brayshaw have come through the Freo system? Obviously there is a lot of negativity about Lyon, much of it justified, but he played Brayshaw and Cerra pretty much every game they were available, and I thought it made sense to protect them a bit by playing them on the outside a little more and seeing the game from a different position (often with Brayshaw forward and Cerra back).
Certainly they are coming into their own as genuine midfielders in their third year, which seems about the mark; but do reckon they could have gone more into the midfield earlier, or do you reckon Lyon did the right thing?
For what it’s worth, my view is Lyon was right to play Brayshaw on the outside more (he was still built like a kid at 18), probably held Cerra back just a little (ie, should have played more in the middle towards the end of his second year), and JLo is doing the right thing by Serong playing in the middle from the get-go because I reckon he’s built to handle it. He might need a rest though before the season is done.
