I can't remember the last time I enjoyed watching Freo play. I only got to see some of the Pies match, but some good signs there.
All the things that frustrated about Rolyball were gone. The hospital handpass, the uncertainty, The continual back passing to a switch that never happened, as some one inevitably fumbled and got caught.
The in close playing was poetry. The fast hand passing was so quick and precise, and had structure - at the end of the chain there was usually someone running onto the ball to find space, or spot up a forward target.
Maybe Hawthorn aren't as good as they used to be, but Freo hardly had the best 22 out there either, and they looked slick and in control. They didn't get stiffed by the umpiring either. Margetts is slipping. I had no idea who the other 2 were, and that can only be another good thing.
