TOPIC: Trade Targets

Detox Trade Targets 3 years 8 months ago #1

Detox
I was having a look at which Players we could target this year and these three players could be worth looking at.

Sam Taylor - To boost our key defensive stocks

Zac Fisher - nippy half forward / winger with a nice left foot. Can make things happen, got x-factor and can change the angles. (Also really good mates with Griffen Logue)

Angus Brayshaw - Brother of Andy - A bit out of form but a capable midfielder that finished 3rd in brownlow a couple of years back.

Thoughts?

I like Fisher, plus after carlton bid on Henry in the draft I'd like some revenge but he's not out of contract until the end of 2021, I say wait one more year and get him cheap then. He'd be a big improvement on Colyer and I think that's when Colyers contract ends too.

I don't think we need anymore nippy forwards. We've still got Sturt, Henry, Thomas and Carter to fill spots plus Western from NGA next year who looks like a jet.
We do need a big backman or two and a ruckman though.

Sam Collins from Gold Coast looks like a good fit to help out Ryan.

Ruckman badly needed.
Possbles - English (Dogs) or Chol (Tigers). I like the latter.

Trades:
Brandon Starcevich - Brisbane; Ben Long - Deaf Cheats; Tarryn Thomas - North.

But I would rather just go to the draft.

I am in the draft camp.
Would consider trading some of the medical staff. Some clubs seem to never have injury lists as bad as what the Dockers have.

Tall backs. ...and anyone who's a precision kick under pressure like Mundy.. Can't have enough of those types.

I agree the draft is the way to go, but Angus Brayshaw is playing like a guy who could use a change of scenery. I’d at least kick the tyres.

We'd end up swapping Andy for him.

you give us too much credit hypen, we would also give up a first round draft pick

if these players came incredibly cheap or free then it'd be worth looking at but I can't see that happening.

Taylor is alright as a medium sized defender but we have that pretty well covered atm so I wouldn't throw a trade/draft picks at him. It'd be trading for Taylor so Logue/Hughes/Duman/Watson don't get a gig, let alone Carter and Thomas.

Fisher would be an upgrade on Colyer/Matera but so are Henry/Sturt/Switkowski/Schultz/Crowden and a few others on our list (or soon to be on like Western). I wouldn't bother unless he were a free agent.

Brayshaw I would consider a trade for but Melbourne will ask far too much of us in any deal. Brayshaw would be a huge boost and the way Melbourne are currently playing him is a massive waste of his talent. He should be a premier midfielder in the competition but instead he only plays two thirds of the game and as an outside midfielder when he does. Getting him in allows Fyfe and Sonny to spend a lot more time forward and would be a great replacement for Manic in the years to come.

In saying that, I can't see anything we can offer to appease Melbourne unless someone we value highly wanted to head back to Melbourne. We have few draft picks left and little else to trade with (and I prefer to hold picks in general).
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

This season, and probably the next 2, Biz, we have no need to trade in players, unless a real gun becomes available. Go with the draft so we can continue to progress our young player stocks, it also allows those we have recently drafted to get a game instead of languishing behind those diamonds in the rough that were traded in here over the last couple of years

Biz, I totally agree. I reckon the only way a deal for Angus happens is if Cerra asks to go back to Melbourne.
