TOPIC: Cerra/Brayshaw

Given that these two came in at the cost of number 2 and 5 draft picks I’m beginning to be concerned about their future impact.
I’ve never been big on Brayshaw as a great selection at number 2. Don’t get me wrong, he will be a solid player and will rack up 100 games but I’d expect a game breaker with that pick.
I actually thought we’d done better with Cerra based on his first season but he hasn’t developed at all and seems to be struggling to have an impact.
We need these guys to become A graders quickly as Mundy is fading rapidly and the cavalry seems to be a long way off.

Agree completely. They have been around long enough to start showing more.

As has Cox. As has Tucker.

And Matera has shown us all he's got. Get him out, get Henry & Serong in. Get Micheal Fredericks in as well.

I'd much prefer to be beaten due to inexperience, rather than by complete mediocrity....

Cerra is all class but needs to get on end of more chains and use his Elite disposal As the pass inside 50. I’m am still not convinced by Brayshaw though, I would love to be proven wrong but I can’t see where the improvement is going to come from with him.

Come on down Hypen.

Actually thought that was Cox's best game as a backman. Under great pressure. Logue though had a bad one but he looked like a kid against the frame of Dixon.

Our midfield is a major concern. The gulf between Fyfe and Walters and then the rest is huge. Not one other midfielder looks more than servicable.

I’d drop Matera, play Walters back in the forward line and bring in Blakely. We’re getting beaten up in the middle and while Walters effort is unquestionable, he had little effect in clearing the ball for us.

Brayshaw and Cerra - they need a coach like a Ron Barassi in a tartan suit smoking fags at half time shouting and eye-balling them. Being talented, well-brought-up kids from good schools is not getting them over the line at the moment.

Brayshaw's disposal is not very good, if I'm being polite. Which I am.

When I look through our list it is filled with B-/C+ grade players. Serviceable, occasionally raising hopes but never standing out. Nothing to get excited about. We have the makings of a solid team that can only aspire to regular finishes around 8-12 on the ladder. The gulf between Fyfe/Walters and the rest of the team is becoming our 2020 story.

Lay off, you lot. Have a little faith in the players and coach.

Freo played a GF in 2013 and won the minor prem in 2015 with a team made up of a few top class players and a bunch of journeymen types who would have run through a brick wall for the team.

Longmuir is intent on developing a more skilled team, looking to play good quality footy.

Port ran us off the field yesterday with bigger, stronger, mature-age players and a Ross Lyon style of footy that might just work for them - this season.

I think the club is now (truly) building for a long-term future.

One thing for sure is that we really only have two players that can get hold of the ball 20 times or more and that's Fyfe and Walters. Hill and Langdon could do it and the expectations were that Cerra, Tucker and Brayshaw would step up this year. Tucker did in the first two games but was well down yesterday.
Blakely cann do it but seems to be on the outer. Needs to win back support after indescretions last year?
How long do we keep perservering before we give Valente, Serong and Blakely a chance?

I can't understand Blakely's continued omission from a mid-field spot. When he was played in the mid-field, he showed a lot of promise, but then he was put to half back, which was a stupid move. They did the same thing with Palmer.

I’ve got concerns about Brayshaw’s disposal. In fact I think that’s the reason Blakley is not in the side. Two players in the midfield with poor field kicks just doesn’t cut it. Cerra will be a star. I thought he played a decent game yesterday. Remember this is his first real crack at decent midfield time after Ross played him out of position last year.

People called for Brayshaw and Cerra to have more midfield time. It’s going to take time. We all know they spent limited time in there in the previous two years.
I never thought we would challenge the eight this year. We haven’t had a home game. We are in a hub away from home, in our third game with a new coach and, virtually no chance to train together and polish our new game plan.
This has got to offer some advantage to players with the experience to draw on.
Rowell looks to be an exceptional talent however we didn’t have the first pick in this years draft or 2018.
We need to have a little patience.

ABC... Aish, Brayshaw & Cerra will be champions for us. Acres as well if he can get back on the park.
WTF... Walters, TABS & Fyfe ... I'm sure TABS has the potential to be in this trio.
