With no crowds, why do they even need to be playing in a stadium. Cockburn Arc has two ovals. And a magic tractor that can paint the lines to make it any ground dimensions they want. They can stay in the chalets at Woodman Point.

Could be a bit like bowls then, Shane, The first game the ground is 250 meters long, at half time, re-mark to 150 meters long so the players don't get too tired. Shorten the ground instead of shortening the quarters.

Good thinking. They'll need to save their legs for the recovery session so they can get up the stairs to the ice waterslide.

Burswood sounds about right.
They can all stay at Kerry's place even with their partners and kids.
I am sure you could accommodate the thousand or people in comfort all in the one place.

Simples.

All hypothetical now as the Victorians try to get VFL 2020 style set up by forcing all interstate clubs to relocate to Melbourne and play out the whole season there. This is laughable when you think that last week Prima Donna Patrick Dangerfield was moaning about the possibility of having to be away from family for 4-5 weeks if sent Perth hub and now, if this VFL plan goes ahead I would imagine our guys and the Weagles will be forced to relocate for possibly 2-3 months. Typical opportunistic attitude on the part of Victorians. I can't see the Weagles signing off on this and for once we will need to be solid in supporting opposition to this plan.

Surely it's a non-starter until the water slides re-open.

We can relocate them to Rottnest, plenty of accommodation for 1000 players and families and surfing and they have a school for their kids a pub for the players and partners to eat and drink at. They can play the games on the oval near tent land. There is even a bloody golf course and lots of white sand for the WAGS to sunbake and send selfies to their Instagram account.

The oval is hard as a rock you could play 9 games a week on the oval and never know the difference.

There is even room for water slides.

If the game is boring just show photos of quokkas, the overseas viewers will love it.

these AFL blokes just arent being innovative enough.

And you could bring in Rex Hunt to commentate and host fishing trips at half time.

Oh, sure, let’s play the whole season in Melbourne. The Victorian government’s department of football will sort that out quick smart.
So after the eight is pretty much entirely made up from “home” teams and one of them gets to win the flag, let’s hope this ludicrous and completely corrupt premiership season is given the asterisk it will so richly deserve.

A firm decision to not make a decision appears to have been made.
Courtney Walsh from The Australian
"AFL chief hints at further season delay

A decision on when the AFL season will resume could be delayed until next month as the league continues negotiations with government authorities.

AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan remains hopeful of providing a detailed outline as to how a return to football will look next week.

But he conceded on Thursday the intricacies presented by COVID-19 and the differences in regulations on a state-by-state basis may lead to a further delay until consensus is reached.

“What I will make clear is that we are working to (a timeline),” he told Triple M radio.

“It will hopefully be in the next couple of weeks, but things change with governments and health officers, but we are optimistic of a return to play timeframe in coming weeks, whether it is the last week of April, first week of May, or thereabouts, (to announce) we are going forward.”

AFL fixtures boss Travis Auld said on Wednesday the option of using hubs as a starting point for the season was looming as the most likely option.

McLachlan said the AFL was investigating the merits of each state, with the prospect three separate hubs could be used.

“The first port of call is that the states actually want us to set up there and we work through the logistics from there,” he said.

“There are a wide range of options. I doubt we will be playing in every state or territory, but we are looking at every possibility.”"

FWIW
and I think this Courtney Walsh never represented the West Indies in Cricket

I always wondered what happened to Courtney after he retired from cricket, all that time touring Australia wasn't wasted then.

I've been a great believer that whoever won this year's flag would be a worthy winner with every team playing each other once and all having to travel and play in interstate hubs testing their mettle as deserving champions.
If, however the Victorian Government get their way and a VFL 2020 style competition is played solely in Victoria then the Premiers MUST be listed with a very big asterisk next to their names. The ultimate in arrogance and I would be quite happy if we and the Weagles opted out of this farce.
