Has there been any talk of considering the Burswood peninsula as a single venue for running the 16 rounds of games remaining for the season?
I'm sure theres a bunch of reasons why it would be a logistically complicated process (not least the players and officials having to be away from family for 3-4months) but as a venue burswood is probably uniquely capable of being "closed off" and created as a Covid free zone. All involved would need to quarantine for 2 weeks to begin.
There is enough accommodation to fit the required numbers, catering options, plenty of training spaces etc, it does not impact or impede the general public like the Melbourne Sydney or Adelaide grounds would.
I know the WA govt is using it as a Covid coordination centre and maybe that's hard to move but for the right price from the AFL I'm sure a move could be arranged.
Anyway just a thought maybe its already been considered. I know there is some talk of a 3 conference type arrangement but to me that is such a compromised season that nobody will take it seriously as an option.
Thoughts on why Burswood could or couldn't work?

There are about 144 games to be played, so if they played a game every day it would take nearly 5 months and that’s without finals.

Clearly this topic is now being canvassed by AFL. Still keen to hear if anyone has any genuine comments on for and against. What obstacles to overcome etc
The load on the surface at optus would be a genuine concern but there's be plenty of community ovals around the country that cop a similar beating and hold up OK. And we are talking a multi million dollar perfectly draining billiard table surface right. 5 games Mon to Fri and 2 on Sat and Sunday doesn't seem impossible. As long as no training on the ground is allowed. And I guess worst case you play limited games at a second venue.
