I'm wondering if the numbers being thrown around actually make sense.
Since there is no football being played, is the club paying the Craypot for use of the ground, security staff and all the palaver that goes with it?
If they are, the the Craypot is taking money for unprovided services and if not, then their expenditure for the year is going to be significantly less that whats been quoted. Either way, since there are no games being played anywhere then expenditure will be down substantially - no airfares, no hotels, no security staff, no public transport fees...the list goes on.
I personally doubt they're paying top dollar to Optus for games not being played, particularly when Optus has been taken over by WA Police as one of their regional command centres.
The players have taken a temporary pay cut and the non-playing staff have been slashed.
You know, perhaps the club just isn't on the verge of being dragged off into indentured servitude for the next decade or two. Which brings me back to my original point about being open and honest with the people who have given them money for something they won't be getting.
Also hypen, stay on your soapbox. Nobody wants Freo FC to fold, least of all the people on here but I can't see how the club can appeal to the members to keep the faith in a pandemic but not explain how to arrange a refund in a pandemic. Personally, if they put up an appeal for donations to keep the club afloat, I'll be there to help but I can't agree with being tricky in order to hang on to the money they've been paid.
Open and honest, it's a narrow path some days but since you know what I do for a crust, you'll understand why I want my club to behave correctly.
