PROPOSAL FOR 2020 AFL SEASON
Dear Sirs
I am a passionate supporter of AFL football being a member of Fremantle since 1995 and a supporter of South Fremantle Football Club all my life.
I ask you consider the proposal below as it may allow for the resumption of the 2020 AFL season and also provide much needed revenue to our beleaguered WAFL clubs.
Our 9 WAFL clubs are all located within the Perth and Peel metropolitan areas, in addition there are the West Coast and Fremantle ETAFs at Lathlain and Cockburn and Optus Stadium and potentially the WACA ground, these could be used in the proposal below.
The proposal is, if the 16 interstate AFL teams were to relocate to Perth and their players and staff stay in local hotels and undergo a 14 day quarantine period.
You could allocate interstate AFL teams to share the facilities of each WAFL club (2 to a club) for training, West Coast and Fremantle would continue to use their present facilities. Interstate Players and officials could live in hotels.
Each WAFL oval, Optus and WACA has broadcast facilities so can be used for games, without crowds. As per round 1.
Optus Oval could host 2 games a week, at least one being night match, the other 7 games could be played across 7 WAFL Grounds in the Perth metropolitan area or the WACA.
The AFL will receive its broadcast rights money so player and officials can continue to be employed, a facilities rent is paid by the AFL to the WAFL clubs so that they can remain solvent.
I will leave it there, as intelligent men I am sure you get the gist of this.
My apologies if this has already been considered as a scenario and for good reason discarded. I am sorry if I have wasted your time.
However as a passionate AFL and WAFL fan I want to leave no stone unturned.
Kind Regards
Quasi (My real name is on the actual letter)
