Mind you, but when Tabs was lining up for a left foot hook shot from deep in the right forward picket today I wouldn't of bet that old five cent piece (that got accidentally crazy glued into the side of my dashboard ashtray in the ute) that he'd even make a behind. But he sized it up, stood there with his mouth gaping open like a five year old watching Alan Kohler explain the quarterly GDP graph, and slotted it through smooth as silk. He may look like a cartoon character, but hes going ok.

Sonny has always been a favourite of mine. But to give a full forward a spray for going for a mark was well out of order.
Tabs played a good game today and has done for the last two seasons (when not injured) and anyone calling him a log and a liability has no idea on footy, and is well out of order

Townsend got 2 goals from pushing Logue in the back and a third from a free kick when he was clearly shepherding out Ryan going for an intercept mark. It should have been a dockers free kick. Take those umpire errors away and Townsend did very little.
The major problem for the Dockers was very poor kicking by guys who are usually reliable like Darcy Tucker and Duman. Even Bewley was banging long kicks straight to the opposition.

The issue wasn’t Tabs going for the mark, the issue was Tabs running from the middle of the ground to the same space as Walters, who had carved out 30m of space by himself.

Tabs brings a lot to the table because he’s is a really good mark and can run well for his size, and in the absence of Hogan and with Lobb needed in the ruck you have to pick him. But he takes a lot off the table because he’s such a clanger merchant and seems to struggle with the complexity of modern footy. You can’t really make the game simple for him because he’s not explosive enough to lead to the ball. He has to work in a system and he’s not very good at it.

I can see why he would be frustrating to play with. I can’t recall Walters giving out too many sprays, which probably says something.

Unfortunately Banfield seems to be one who is trapped in this all the time. He gets himself in the right position with the ball but then holds back. Hope he gets the confidence to do what is his first instinct otherwise he will always be a depth player.

Pure mathematics problem solving is what he does with his uni mates in his spare time. There is nothing wrong with his ability to read the game, he is highly intelligent.

He had every right to go for the mark, Sonny should have stayed down.

Taberner can't kick and has the turning circle of a Mack truck and no second effort. He still has a role to play and was trying to play it when Walters jumped into him.
