Great to see a team picked on form and not reputation. I thought Crowden, Colyer, Bewley, Schultz and Banfield all showed they wanted to be in the 22 and gave their all. The rest of the selections were all pretty straight forward and great to see Sturt finally forcing his way in, this kid could be very special.

I thought the opposite and was surprised to see most of those players in the 22 over the rising talent. Crowden didn't get a lot of game time in the preseason and wasn't particularly noticeable but I don't mind him getting a good go. Bewley squandered his opportunity on the wing with slow movement and too few possessions. Colyer probably showed the most rotating forward but I don't think his output was anywhere near what you expect from a 28 year old player, I'd much rather a kid learning the trade and how to play in JLo's style.

Serong, Young and co will hopefully get a spot at some stage but I'd definitely like to see them sooner rather than later.

I'm just mildly disappointed that Acres, Hill, Hogan, Pearce, Hamling, Wilson, Mundy, Switkowski, Giro and Henry are unavailable and that Blakely is not considered good enough to play, but apart from that minor glitch, the team looks pretty good, and I reckon we've got a chance. I thought Bewley might not get a game as he still seems pretty slow and didn't do a lot in the preseason, but Justin Longmuir seems to have faith in him. McCarthy is a little fortunate to be in, given that he usually goes missing for a couple of quarters, but he gives us some flexibility if there are any injuries during the game. Our new style of play seems to suit Mitch Crowden and he played pretty well under pressure in the last game. And Colyer looks a lot quicker and sharper and deserves a run. I hope we see a bit more from Cerra - I'm not convinced that he's the goods yet. Tobe Watson is unlucky.

I thought Crowden looked solid in the pre-season games. He kicked the ball well and showed a bit more composure. I agree that I would rather see Serong than Colyer because i think that is the future.. I guess he will get a chance soon enough.

It really is disappointing our young guys can't get games in the WAFL. They might not progress as fast as they could.

Given Crowden missed the first half of the blues preseason game (32% game time) and only had 51% game time vs the OOFTIT's, I didn't think he was likely to make the side tomorrow. Hopefully the Owl can have a big one and cause some damage floating through half forward.
