Predicting this season is tough. Our last three seasons we’ve won 8, 8 and 9 games, so it seems reasonable to use that as a rough baseline.
We’ve lost some outstanding senior players the last couple of years (B Hill, Neale and Langdon were regular top 5 finishers in the Doig the last three years), but we should see some improvement from the young core of the team.
Our fitness staff and assistant coaches (other than J Carr) are the same.
It's probably one of those years where you need to go backwards a bit to go forwards. Short of winning a Premiership or running out on the field to clock Gaff, JLo will likely never have a higher approval rating with fans than he does now. It makes sense for him to play as many of the kids as possible (even if they get a little exposed), figure out where everyone should play, get a sense for which of the assistant coaches and support staff you need to replace, try and get the basics of a game style in place, and worry about the wins and losses in 2021.
Out of curiosity, how long do you reckon it takes to change a gameplan? If you take the view that a gameplan is mostly players collectively making a series of correct and connected decisions, you’d have to think it would take a while right? But are we talking months or seasons?
