AFL WEBSITE SAYS WE HAVE: 67, 82, 86, 88 remaining. Hopefully we can find at least one gem in those picks, time to go local I think.

We still have the option to match bids for two more academy players if we want them, so plenty more options available. And of course if Bell can orchestrate getting back into the draft to jump at robertson or sharp, I would be ok with either of them.

I'm hoping Callum Jamieson may still be around and maybe Leno Thomas from Claremont. They'd be good as ruck and defensive support then maybe Isaiah Butters and Tyrone Thorne though I'm not sure how many small forward types we need on our list. They need to be able to run through the midfield to add value to their presence on the list.
I'm still keen on the young forward from Peel, Ben Middleton and maybe Ben Sokol as late picks.

Yep, agree we need another young ruckman/forward as back up, because Meek has really shown nothing so far and Ben Sokol definitely. Don't want to see another mature aged recruit snaffled by Vics again and become a success. He's already a better kick, mark and lead than Schultz and Switkowski. Then Butters and maybe Thomas or in the rookie list.

The hype of drafting home grown talent opposed to best available seems a recipe to breeding mediocre results. Langdon, Weller & Balic left on homesickness but the likes of Pavlich and Mundy resisted the urge and played part in a successful period of footy. I am happy with the clubs selections to go with best available but only time will tell.

Looks like there may be a couple of mature age gems in this list... here

My 2 choices would be;
BEN SOKOL (Subiaco, 28/10/1995) - The 186cm forward won the Bernie Naylor Medal as the competition's leading goalkicker and was best afield with six goals in the Grand Final.

MITCH HIBBERD (Williamstown, 23/9/1996) - "The 23-year-old running machine averaged almost 25 touches and kicked 10 goals this year to show he still has more to offer"

So, I'm just wondering, if Melbourne at pick 74 select Isaiah Butters or Leno Thomas, our Academy kids, can we just trump them with our later picks 82 or 86 as pick 74 has a zero points draft value? This could be very real possibility for these kids as this is the pick range where they may be selected.

Yeah, we can automatically match them if they're bid on at that point without using points.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

can someone tell me how many positions we actually have left to fill with the squad.
So we have taken 3, does that mean we are likely to only take 1 more this draft and maybe a few more in the preseason / rookie draft or are they separate ?

Hold onto your hats tonight. We're going to take the next best available Scott Jones.

As in we redraft Scott Jones if there is no next best available Scott Jones?

So tomorrow is the pre-season and rookie drafts. What's the difference and what have we got left in the tank?
