So the general consensus (the money and media) is on Young, Serong and obviously Henry in that order coming to Freo. Young sounds a good get from all the bios. I have no problems with those selections.

The only snag to that theory is when the West Australian kid turns into Aaron Naughton and the Victorian kid gets a huge bout of homesickness. Then we're all screaming about why we missed the local star in the making. I know they may be good but I'd still stick with the local kids especially when they are as good as this year's crop is.

Gumnut has a good point there. If we simply grab 3 WA kids then these guys should form a strong backbone of our future... but then again, just take a look at Mundy who's been a great servant to the club and resisted any homesickness. But I can understand Gumnut's concerns, especially if their name is Lachie or has a Victorian girlfriend.

Just one across the bow to make anybody thinking of playing silly buggers to think again or they might end up with the kid.
I can see a scenario where Freo trade Pick 8 for a couple of later first round picks (Geelong?) or whatever. I don’t think they want to go into deficit.
Let the Geebungers take one of the Vic kids and we get a WA slider? Belly likes to play silly buggers as well I think.
Disclaimer: I know stuff all about the draft process but I hate debt.

No chance Grub - otherwise that defeats the purpose of us getting up the draft order in the first place.
That also means we burn one of those picks matching on Henry anyway - bad result.

More likely is we get pick 7 and 8 in the hand, then trade back in after Henry bid for our future first rounder to nail Sharp & Taylor...too easy and I assume we already have a in principle agreement with a club like Bris, GC, Adel or NM..
