I must admit Biz, the more I hear of Brodie Kemp the more I think he would be a great pick up long term. My only worry is, being a Victorian, what is the likelihood of him wanting to go home early especially after spending the better part of a season in rehab. That aspect is hard to forecast though he is a country boy with a reduced chance of the go home factor.

If players go home then they go home. I don't like being hamstrung by the threat of someone leaving as there are an abundance of reasons for players to leave a club. If we look after him and treat him well, he'll stick by us. If he goes, we get the best deal we can for him and maybe it'll be another Lachie Weller scenario where we can cash in.

Kemp lives hours away from Melbourne and would only be relatively close to Geelong so I don't see the go home factor as much of a worry with him. Help him get his knee up and going and prep him for 2021. He'll be a star and he'll be a driving force in something special.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

Biz, Freo's history with the drafting of injured or injury prone players is poor to say the least. The history of Gumbleton, Pitt, Morabito and Bennell at Freo makes me shy away from Kemp. I think we have the opportunity to take young fit draftees from WA that we don't have to be concerned about and can give us game time in 2020.
My picks at this stage are Henry, Jackson, Robertson and/or Taylor if we can land them. I still like Ash as a 'foreign' pick ahead of Kemp.

We don't have much of a history of drafting injured players and when we have, they've generally gone pretty well.

Gumbleton was a trade from Essendon, Pitt had no injury history before being drafted, Morabito had no injury history before being drafted and Bennel was a trade from GC.

The majority of kids seem to push through injury before being drafted in any case, they all have young and developing bodies that they are pushing as hard as they can, often against bigger opponents. Kemp hurt his knee and missed the last couple of months of the season, Henry hurt his knee and missed the last couple of months of the season, Robertson hurt his shoulder and missed the last couple of months of the season, Garcia hurt his knee and missed the last couple of months of the season. It's a recurring theme.

The kids in the draft are resilient, they'll bounce back from injury.

Pitt was a dud pick. He couldn't kick. His heart issue just saved everyone the embarrassment of admitting that.

How good he was or could have been is a bit beside the point.

I will say I thought he was quite good in his first few games and had no problems with his disposal. Towards the end of his short career, the crowd got stuck into him like they did with the swamp monster. That pressure on the shoulders of a young kid didn't work well for him and he struggled to handle it which became a bit of a self fulfilling prophecy.

His kicking was fine when he was drafted.

You're wrong. I called it after the first scratch match at Fremantle Oval and he never improved. He certainly wasn't worth anything like pick 20 (not that it was a great year)

Hypen will back me up because he spent the next three years laying into me for it.

I wasn't. I checked.

I think my accurate spelling confused him.

Shane wrote Pitt off after one quarter of football. It's irrelevant the bastard was proven right.

And there is nothing wrong with my spelling. Hypen has a deeply hidden allegorical meaning that you dunderheads can't decipher after two decades.

It's like covfeve.
