If we're really keen on a tall and we can't get Jackson, then why not take Callum Jamieson from Claremont, 200cm, 81kg, 19yo. OK he may not have the agility of Jackson but showed a bit in Tigers premiership game and more than likely still available later in the Draft. A lot of upside to this kid.

Melbourne are probably not even interested in Jackson or Henry, just journalists stirring up trouble. And you would think they would still be wary of a Jackson, given how the last one turned out.

I'm not buying into all this anxiety inducing draft stuff. We've got some good picks and Liam Henry will be one of them. We'll do well, there's heaps of talent from WA this year and we're in the box seat.

Totally agree Polly. Henry needs to be one of them and then whoever we get then after will be a bonus. 2 picks in the top 10 again this year, lets hope we don't stuff it up... forget the shenanigans I say and just go for the pure talent that we need that will compliment what we have already.

Reading The Worst this morning, I know I shouldn't, and I couldn't help thinking I hope this is not another Andrew McLeod moment where we stuff up and miss out on one of the great players of recent years. Liam is a class act on and off the field.

Did anybody see the article in The West yesterday?
The article was about Henry, and claimed that the AFL had announced that pick swapping deals like the Swans and Eagles did last year would be illegal this year. It’s my understanding that last year the Eagles and Swan’s swapped a high pick with the Eagles to avoid using that pick to match for an academy kid, then shortly after traded their high pick back in.
On the 9/11/19 there was an article on AFL.com that suggested we may attempt a similar thing this year.
Can anybody shed any light on this situation? Has the rule changed? When did the rule change?
If this rule change has only happened since the trade period, surely this is unfair and prejudicial. We were active in trade period negotiating a trade for Brad Hill, the basis of this deal would’ve been framed around the rules for the upcoming draft.
Surely these rules should be known prior to trade time and unable to shift between these two periods.

The rule has changed, now a team can only “live trade” once with any other team during the draft. Last year the eagles and swans did two trades either side of the bid for a swans academy player, neither trade met the “does this make common sense” on its own value but put together they were close in value, essentially the swans traded out a pick in the twenty’s to avoid using it to match the bid, then after matching traded one back in. The eagles didn’t get much of a gain but helped the swans cheat the system.

Gumnut, for every McCleod, we have a Mikey Walters, don't get hung up on the media beatup of the McCleod saga.

Thanks PK.
When did the rule change?

I can see it now. Belly plays the pick-swap card, the AFL intervenes, we lose our pick and squander any hope of securing a top player, thus losing Henry and any other top talent we may have recruited as well.

I'm not Matt as I think we've been unfairly judged on that case over the years, particularly Gerard Neesham, but you can be sure there will be a host of others to throw this at us if we did stuff it up. Sonny Walters is a perfect example of why we must punt on these guys like Henry, Butters and others from the Academy. Everything I've read seems to indicate Liam's commitment to Fremantle so it just would seem a futile exercise even having the Academy if we're not going to pick the cream of the crop when it's on our doorstep.

Another surfer, CA, we should have moved further south than Cockburn. We would be unbeatable if the Steves had shown enough foresight & fortitude to shift to Margaret River.

Jamieson is still very raw and unknown. It always tends to be tough to predict how those big skinny kids fill out and grow into their body and the game. Another year in the colts system hasn't hurt him as he has been handy across the year and shown a bit. I'm not convinced he'll be a great ruck but there are worse directions to go for a rookie pick to develop.

This article about Brodie Kemp and his knee is interesting. He likes to compare himself to Cripps and Fyfe and I reckon would love the opportunity to grow and develop in the same side as Nat. A country kid, he'll do great things for whoever he gets picked up by.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.
