After some discussion with other supporters this week, the rating of fixturing like so many AFL topics seems very subjective.
On the one hand if you rate difficulty of opposition (from previous season's ranking), we have done exceptionally well, but from a promotional , marketing, and fan friendly piont of view, we have done very poorly.
Certainly from a non Victorian club perspective I think the 2 issues are intrinsically linked and are at opposite ends of the spectrum ie. success vs. the lack of.
We are never going to get a fixture that will suit us all,- And when I refer to "Us All " I just mean our fan base.
For me, Im another that doesnt like sunday home games, but I think weve done better than this year.....
We play 5 sat games plus the Anzac Sunday night, which I think is a great idea for this season alone, as WA is the only state to get the pub hol mon so it's a Marquee exposure standalone game against fairly big Vic club. And It will feel like a Sat night game to me so its great...........Ive thought for years we should push AFL to market same fixture for sunday night on WA day weekend for same reason.......and before the slime do it.
Then there's the rnd 23 against Tiges which is yet to be called. So maybe 7 all up with abitta luck with no working weekday the following day.!!!
Cant wait!
Go Freo!!!
