I don’t think keeping him is worst case. I think this is a positive outcome. The only way us losing him becomes a positive, is if we can turn him into multiple swings at the top of this draft.
Kelly didn’t get done last year and increased his value with a better year. There is no reason Hill can’t do the same, he will have to if he wants to be offered 900k again. Hill will still be in contract next year.
I fail to distinguish the difference to our position on Hill to Essendon’s position on Daniher.
Essendon have built their list around challenging now, with few tall forward options available to fill Daniher’s role, this position is seriously compromised.
If we lose Hill, we will have lost two of our top five, this accompanied with injury issues around a number of other important players leaves us very unsure of our list capabilities. Should Hill join Langdon in departing we are acknowledging that we are taking a step back. If this is the case we need access to the top WA talent, Jackson being one of these.
If some rumours are to be believed, GWS are interested in Jackson. St Kilda has effectively traded away our main reason for being interested in a trade.
