With the appointment on the new Coach and trade period just around the corner, here is what I think our best 22 looks like and a look at our depth.
With some fresh ideas, Structure (and a bit of skills training) I think this 22 (if we can keep them on the park) can play finals next year.

Fol Sean Darcy, Nat Fyfe, Bailey Banfield
FF Brandon Matera, Rory Lobb, Sam Switkowski
HF Matt Taberner, Jesse Hogan, Cam McCarthy
C David Mundy, Michael Walters, Stephen Hill
HB Ethan Hughes, Alex Pearce, Luke Ryan
FB Nathan Wilson, Joel Hamling, Griffin Logue

Bench: Adam Cerra, Andrew Brayshaw, Connor Blakely, Darcy Tucker

Some notes on team selection:
Assumption that B Hill & Langdon both depart. It looks a bit tall, but there's plenty of run off the bench. The centreline is picked to have our best ball uses the ones delivering into our forward 50 (plus give Mundy a less in and under role). I would like to see Cam Mac run through the middle when Fyfe is rested forward, also I prefer Banfield to Conca as he seems to have more potential. Logue, Duman & Hughes are a flip of the coin for me and may be a horses for courses situation at the selection table. If we get Henry then Matera & Switta would both be very nervous.

Depth: this is the concerning area for me, personally haven't seen Sturt or Valente first hand but reports have not been too promising.
Mid - lot of toilers, Conca can come straight in a play a role but behind him everyone else has struggled to make an impact.
Reece Conca
Mitchell Crowden
Tom North
Travis Colyer
Brett Bewley
Stefan Giro
Luke Valente

Forward - Cox has potential, Schultz I am not convinced by, haven't seen the others live, why so many tall forwards?
Brennan Cox
Hugh Dixon
Dillon O'Reilly
Sam Sturt
Lachie Schultz

Back - all look promising but not really KP players, would be good to have backup for AP or Hamling
Taylin Duman
Jason Carter
Tobe Watson

Ruck - one solitary backup Ruck, If Hodor goes down Lobb will have to play a lone hand in the Ruck.
Lloyd Meek

looking at this list, going into the Trade/draft we need to focus on speedy Midfielders (to replace those departing), another ruck & another back up Key back.

Some of our players might look completely different under a better game plan.

In the draft, high priority, Luke Jackson Ruck; speedy midfielder Liam Henry and Jeremy Sharp, not sure about key defenders in the WAFL maybe Dylan Smallwood from Claremont but he's a bit underdeveloped or in the draft Brodie Kemp or Sam de Koning 200cm and can also play key forward. De Koning is from Vic Country so generally a bit less of a flight risk in future seasons.

Surely JLo would be checking his diary for a car park chat with Polly.

Mundy should play exclusively forward for the remainder of his career. He’s good enough to be the third tall and the club needs to develop the next generation of mids.

I think it is way too early to start picking a best 22,

JLo has already flagged an emphasis on skills and a significant change to the balance between defence and attack. In the last 10 years, JLo has worked as a Development Ass Coach, Forward Ass Coach and Defensive Ass Coach, so he probably has a few ideas on what the gig entails.

Some of the blokes are going to adjust better and faster than others and I'm pretty sure that there will be some surprises as to the best improvers may be.

I really can't see any prospect of picking a best 22 now when the pre-season games next year may well show five to ten players who have not figured prominently suddenly showing a whole new side to their games. It's an intriguing puzzle at this stage but we won't be able to identify who will be in our best 22 for 2020 before February / March and maybe not even then.

I'm actually very hopeful at this stage because JLo is making all the right noises so far. Now to watch that come to life on the field

Agree Yeti, it’s more of a exercise in looking for who we should target in the trade/draft to fill potential future gaps. For my two cents I think Jackson, Sharp and Rivers should be our targets along with Henry who we’ll have to match a bid for, with that in mind I would see us potentially try to flip our pick 7 for say Gold Coast picks 15 & 20 which might get us two of those four.

I look forward to Longmuir straightening out the careers of some players...
Cam McCarthy for starters.

It will be very interesting to see what happens with the coaching panel.

Longmuir needs to establish a new midfield engine room (less reliant on Mundy and Fyfe). Brayshaw was getting better as the season went on, but where's Cerra at? Who's replacing the outside run of B Hill?

This is a make-or-break year for a lot of players. Cox, Crowden, Giro, Shultz, Bewley, Sturt etc - but hopefully we're surprised how well these guys respond to the new set-up. Blakely needs to work out which beaches he wants to surf at. If Tabs gets injured again this year...

Personally I hope we don't spend our high draft picks getting Tim Kelly. We'd be better served with 2-3 high-pick young talents. Let's find the next Tim Kelly.

We still need picks in the draft in order to get the players we want and unfortunately I feel there will be sacrifices made from our current list during trade week once JLo has had a proper look at who he feels are keepers and who fits his future plans. I'm loathe to name players but we do have surplus of certain type of players for example our small forward bracket and even some talls, especially if we target Luke Jackson or another tall in the draft. But it is imperative that we retain 2 first rounders as once the draft combine is completed Luke Jackson and other West Australians will be high on recruiters wish list.

We may have a surplus of talls, but we need the extras because of injuries. But certainly don't get any new talls. Tabs can ruck a bit if needed.
JLo has indicated that his focus will be on winning the contested ball. A great place to start.
If he can breathe some confidence back into players like Cammac, that would be a bonus.
