There are many questions that must be asked about "The RoLy Years."...missing T Kelly is one of them.

But after nearly three quarters of this 2019 GF, someone really has to explain to me HTF did we not pick up M. Pickett???

Now...it may not be RoLy's fault, but there's blokes in there that have ignored Kelly & Pickett, ...and Stack, might I add.

They have to go.

You make it sound so easy, I guess it is in hindsight though. To be fair the club made big calls on Dwayne Simpson and Shane Yarran so I don't think it can be said we havent tried.2 players who could of been anything, it's an unexact science.

Honestly I ask this question not in the spirit of Roly bashing. Just something that intrigues me. Is there any chance Roly would have debuted a player in a GF? I just can’t imagine it. And not just Roly. There are a heap of coaches who would go the safe path and gone with some bloke who had played 100 games of nondescript football.

All power to Hardwick for showing some courage. If more coaches followed suit we wouldn’t have so many rolling maul type games where nothing memorable ever happens.

I have never forgiven Roly for not picking Crowley to tag Mitchell in that prelim. Creepy had 12 months of preparation, hunger and redemption to work out on Mitchell but of course the call wasn't made. Of course it wasn't. There was probably some metric that cautioned against it. No way Roly would have picked Pickett.

Here's a club that will be in premiership contention for years who worry first about talent in Stack and Pickett who are ready made players, and then set about making sure they fit into the Richmond family.
Then there's us who pick average or less mature age list cloggers or a kid who's been playing reserves for EF who let's face it, have struggled to win many league games.
Please let the changes not stop just at the coaching level.

Im not expecting our/any coach to pick a debutant in a GF...I'm expecting our club to take the risks on talent.

Talent is what wins football matches.

We've had all three of the above - Kelly, Pickett & Stack sitting right under our noses for years, but we refused to go there.

Instead we picked fellas like Switoski, Shultz, North etc.

All hard goers, and I am sure great characters and great kids.

But have they got the talent & skills that we so obviously lack.??

No.

So...the people in charge of these decisions - coach, recruiters, list managers...CEOs....have a fair bit of explaining to do ....especially if they are still at the place.

Rather hopefully, they are not.

Yeah...like you Jezza, I'm really struggling with the concept that RoLy isn't going to be about to lead us to 2020 premiership glory .

So focussed on that misery am I, that its hard to put any expectation of performance up the next coach - whoever that may be.

But obviously the next bloke is going to have no idea about footy, nor have the coaching mastery that Roly had, that led us to so much success, so , ....I think the next fellow will get a free run for a while until he proves up.

Hes got a big job in front of him, ....winning a third of our games for the next 4 seasons will be no mean feat to match.

But heres a hint for the new comer....pick skilled blokes like M. Pickett...and the job will be so much easier.

Oh, and get them to use said skills, and, whilst you are at it, have a think about the usefulness of a competent forward structure and attacking gameplan.

Just a thought.....
