The thing about Sumich is that he appears to call it as he sees it....won’t toe the party line if he believes there’s another view on something. That’s a quality worth having and possibly why he and Lyon fell out.

I have no idea what he’s like as a coach but if he gets the Freo coaching job, I hope he does well.

May be just me but Sumich did not ingratiate himself to me at all. A former great of a club seemed happy to throw them under the bus. It was a little surprising, even if he is right.
Not something I would see as a positive in any new coach.

They went to great effort to have this painted as a boys-will-be-boys story about foolish misadventure (and a possible misunderstanding). If you cared about your old football club at all and you saw them pushing this barrow again, after all that happened last time, now would be the perfect time to speak out about it.

The Eagles’ hero said if it was established that Rioli did tamper with a drug testing sample: “There’s got to be something else going on with other players because you can’t just have an isolated incident with this.

Sums has a lot of good qualities to make him a decent coach. I feel his communication skills in front of the media may not be as slick as others so he is a bit like Mark Harvey in this regard. That doesn’t really concern me in the slightest because if he can get the players on the same page and delivering on the field I really couldn’t care if he can’t string a sentence together in front of the cameras.
