There is absolutely no correlation between getting a 'proven' 'experienced coach and premiership success.
Flags last 20 years - only 2 coaches and 4 flags have been won by a coach at his second club. And I'd wager Matthews is the exception to the rule as a coach and a footballer.
The rest have been one by guys in their first gig.
[Side bar; now think through the list of coaches that moved and what happened when they did - Wallace, Sheedy, Roos, Lyon, ... big money, long contracts, ends in tears]
Clarko - he might also be the exception to the rule. Ruthless. But might also be keen on $2m a year for the next 4 years before heading off in to retirement.
Not that hard - pick a younger bloke, who has a vision for how to play the game no one else does, can attract some mates and quality football brains to his assistant coaches, and relates well to the group.
