TOPIC: Pass the Pepper, or not?

From the trade news...

SAM POWELL-PEPPER

Gettable for the right price. The hard nut midfielder fell out of favour at Port late in the season and will weigh up his options. Fremantle could swoop on the West Aussie as it looks to bolster its midfield, while he is a left-field consideration for Essendon.

Is there a spot for Sam hoping he'll improve and become another midfield beast for us?

I would be happy to take SPP for the right price, maybe we could trade Cox for SPP and Ryder, we still have Dixon for our forward line and would gain a bull midfielder and a temporary back up ruck, it could be a win win trade.

Then if we get a top ten pick plus Blake Acres from the saints for Hill we'll start to have a pretty good young core group of mids , use the two top ten picks we'll have to get Deven Robertson and Luke Jackson .

That'll leave us with Melbourne's pick 20 (that we'll get for Langdon) and our pick 28 to match any bid on Liam Henry.

I really don't want us to trade away any of next years picks, it would be nice to start a year with all our picks.

He's a good enough player. Sounds like he needs the right motivation. It's ok to give people a 2nd chance in a new environment and we need a succession plan for David Mundy now, and retrospectively, for Lachie Neale.
We should explore this.

Pass.

Port's version of the 'right price' and our version will be very different. I'd prefer the midfielders we have and those we can select in the draft to SPP. If the price is less than pick 50 I'd consider it as a bargain but otherwise, the draft should be the way to go.

SPP always had limited development as a big bodied player who was a pure inside beast. He always had the size and aggression to get the ball but once he gets it, his use let's him down. I can't see that changing and his disposal/decision making miraculously coming good.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

I'd trade either Giro or Crowden (both SA lads) for SPP. Straight swop.

Can we have a few years off from the second chance chocolate wheel?

Maybe in the 3rd year of our strategic plan when we’ve made some progress from the last 5 years?

We need to know who our coach is going to be before we decide on the make up of recruits.

Top 10 pick, plus another pick in the 60's would be a better option for Freo, than Acres, for Hill.

RM I nearly fell off my chair when you mentioned top 10 pick but then realized it was not SPP you were talking about!!

I like Powell-Pepper a lot, good on him for having a solid effort at Port. But we're potentially losing two outside wingers, not an inside beast. Good luck Sam, I'm sticking with Biz on the draft.
