The Board was courageous with the decision to remove Lyon and Rosich.
They need to show the same courage with their choice of replacements.
With regard to the CEO, I believe an experienced hand is needed to guide the ship; someone who has demonstrated an ability to build on the base Rosich started; ensuring a winning culture permeates through the organisation. It is necessary the new person is media savy too, as dealing with the media in a two-AFL team town is tricky. I do not know if any eastern states candidate would fit the job description other than ex-North Melbourne man Mark Brayshaw, Unfortunately, I see a potential conflict of interest as he is Andrew, Angus, and Hamish Brayshaw's father. Similarly, because we live in a 2 team town, the candidates locally come from a small puddle.
Finding the right coach is paramount. I do not believe the coach needs to have a Fremantle background; he just needs to be the right coach. When Malthouse went to West Coast, he brought a professional approach with him that ticked the boxes needed for his team to achieve success. Similarly, the new coach at Fremantle needs all the skills that a "good coach needs" in order to succeed,
However, more than anything else, he needs the administrative side of the organisation (ie, the Club Board of Management, CEO, Director of Football, Fitness and Medical best practice, through to the Boot Studder and the like) to be on the "same page of the same hymn book".
And THAT is what the CEO must bring to Fremantle Football Club.
