There have been some howlers caught clearly on post cam all season, and that hasn't stopped bad decisions.

Why? They spend all this money on tech, then still have some brain dead numpty like Christian watching it and making a decision. Or, it's so blurry they have NFI, so leave it to the bloke on the ground who had NFI either in the first place.

The '79 Granny was a classic and the most deserving team won handsomely.

Sowfs robbed themselves by going the knuckle and then their coach didn't have time to retrain them as footballers at 3/4 time. He should have had the fights before half time and used the longer break to refresh the limited memories of the dowfs players.

That said, it was lovely day and an even better night down at Moss Street

It's concerning that the "idiot Christenson" spoke so enthusiasticlly about the AFL's new techno plaything. He reckons it will enable him to make MRO decisions within 24hours, because, he says (quote) "that's what supporters want".

I would say that what supporters and members have continuously demanded is a player review system that's fundamentally fair, balanced, non-partisan and consistent.

So how does super slow-mo help to remove all the agendas, bias and preconceptions that continue to bedevil the current form of match review? In what way is this 'ARC' thingy going to raise umpiring standards to acceptable levels?

Further evidence, as if more was needed, that the AFL is totally out of touch with it's customer base - that is, average, everyday footy supporters.

The discussion around footy is the vehicle that generates the revenue, the more the merrier, and nothing sparks it better than outrage at injustice - just like the current American President has shown with great dexterity.

Therefore, I would've thought it was in the AwFL's interest for this bunker to fail miserably. Let's have one big blue during the finals series that keeps everyone grappling for 'a new take' across the summer off-season.

I guess I'm the one who's out of step. I hope for balanced, fair-minded sports governance but instead I witness mindless devotion to, and worship of, the mighty $.

I hope for reasonable, clear-headed discourse, but instead, I keep returning to Dockerland, where irrationality has become the norm.

Watching and talking about AFL no longer holds any interest for me.

Time to move on.

There's 15 seconds to go in the 2019 AFL Grand Final! Geelong lead it by 5 points. Ball up in the middle. Soldo palms it down to Cotchin. Cotchin handball to Houli. Houli handball back to Cotchin. Cotchin unloads with a barrel inside 50. Lynch getting under it. Big punch by Taylor from behind. Ball falls to Martin. Martin gathers, snaps at goal. It's floating high, it's floating through. Siren! Is it a goal? Has it shaved the post? Was it touched off the boot? Goal umpire not sure! Field umpires come rushing in from all directions. They're not sure either. Umpires are taking an awfully long time here to decide. They've called for a review! To the bunker we go. Confusion here at the G. We've been waiting 15 minutes for a decision. Drama! The internet is down at Marvel Stadium! Can you believe it?! So the decision is going to rest with the goal umpire!

And it's then, only then, that the powers at the AFL might finally get it through their thick skulls that hey, maybe we just should have just left the game as it was for 100 years.
