Aren't the cats crying loadly after the AwFL made them play at the G for their final against Collingwood.

Happy to take the opposite position. Finishing top 2 gives you a home game. The Cats train at Alphabet Stadium. That is their home ground.
The AFL’s decision is based on money and not football.

Finals at Alphabet Stadium is only reserved for Freo...

Correct. Which reinforces my comment that the decision is all about money.

You are using the word "people" loosely Shane, they are Collingwood supporters...

What irritates me so much is that they'd so shamelessly argue their case in such a compromised competition; travel, teams that play Gold Coast twice, travel to Tasmania. The whole season is a contrived contradiction.

100,000 people will get to go and see their team play, and pay the AFL for the privilege to do so.

Yeah, that's kind of the economic structure we've built our society around.

I agree. What we seem to differ on is whether the AFL made their decision in the interests of those 100,000 or so fans or in the interests of getting hold of their money.

I seem to get more cynical as I get older but I can’t help but think it’s the latter.

I'm not saying money isn't a factor, it should be. It's how everyone gets paid. But if they were just about making a profit they could play it at Geelong and hike up the price of tickets.

The MCG is the best option for this game. They'll fill the place, they'll sell a lot of stuff, they'll have more people engaged in the event and football will be better for it.

If they were playing GWS is might be a different story because the numbers might not add up but why wouldn't you use your 100,000 seat stadium if you were a chance of filling it?

You are quite correct. I was just responding to the initial premise that the Cats are cry-babies. They have a case.

Plus I distrust anything the AFL does.

Whilst I never wanted West Coast to get the double chance I loved the idea of them finishing 4th and having to go down to the Cattery.

Speaking of which - in a weekend free of footy I can think of no better game to watch this weekend than the 2013 qualifying final.

Fer crying out loud......if we can create grounds to train on which are MCG like in dimensions what’s stopping the Cats from doing so? If they get through to the GF, where do they think that’ll be played at?
