Good wide-ranging interview by the President today.
He talked about sponsors and supporters giving positive feedback about the sackings, which were months in the making. The slide in memberships was mentioned.
The board was finally able to act unanimously and clear the way for a change in culture, and a charismatic new coach will be a large part of that.
It got me reflecting again how divisive Rosich & Ross were, painting a glowing picture of achievement oblivious to growing discontent among stakeholders. No sponsors want ongoing association with negative media commentary and sustained failure.
There is a significant cost to the sackings, but in the end people copped it to get these guys out.
And this is why the 'thanks Ross' thread feels strangely obsequious to me. Each to their own I guess and for sure do whatever it takes to move on, but the fanbase has passed them by just as the game passed Ross by.
