Yes I do chuckle when people tell me Sumich is not qualified as Ross didn't rate him. It's the ones that have been with Lyon a long time that you have to be concerned about.

They are not going to have the luxury of too much time, otherwise, we'll end up like 2001 where the CEO (Schwab) will be be dealing with trading time, and we'll end up doing stupid things like giving up our 1st three picks for Trent Croad, (in a draft that had Hodge, Ball, Judd & Mitchell to name but a few..)

Oh...wait...can't do that, because we don't have a CEO either....!

The GF is in 35 days time, ....if we are going to effectively talk to anyone about coaching currently involved in finals...well...good luck...and likewise for the horse trading of players....

Couple of weeks after the GF, trading season is on.

So, I would humbly suggest they need to have these key positions bedded down by a couple of weeks before trade period...so, that being the case, we can't 'swan about' finding THAT person for too long.

....6 weeks max, I'd reckon....otherwise, we've got another chapter for the mighty tome titled "Stupid Things We Have Done"

A long time is relative. You've got sports media people saying they need to act within a week. So taking their time is probably a month.

Which seems like more than enough time when you think there's a professional list manager and a professional football manager employed by the club and the last coach wasn't interested in list management.

I would think that P Bell, at least, would have the coach he wants, talking terms already. The interview process is good PR and a way to keep the club front and centre in peoples minds but to my way of thinking if they sacked Lyon without having a process in place, things will get a bit too interesting over summer.

That's rubbish. It's not PR. It's how you run a large organisation. You don't go with one bloke's gut feeling. You have a decision making process dictated by the directors.

And that worked 8 years ago??

That's not what happened though.

8 years ago three men did a secret deal to replace the Fremantle coach with a coach of their choosing because an opportunity arose that they liked the look of. There was no process. There were no other options considered. They wouldn't have even replaced the coach if the deal had fallen through.

They did what you want to do now.

I'm not talking about Bell's gut feeling, I don't think they are dumb enough to sack Lyon, if they are going to end up with Hale as coach.

Not sure about that RM....we've got a pretty good track record of 'doing dumb things'....

Scott Watters also coached Subi to a flag.

With Subi's money, a house brick could have coached them to a flag.

Actually, Scott Watters is pretty close

I don’t even know who their current coach is but they are top of the ladder again, don’t think coaching Subiaco to a flag is much of a resume.

Maybe Subiaco can fill in for us in the AFL next year while we look for a coach and new game plan.
