Sorry Randolph but I can't you beaut that.

That article makes for some pretty damning criticism but it's just quantifying what 'some' people on here have been saying for years. I'm still at a loss as to why there are those who try to talk Roly up as some kind of genius when it's absurdly clear he does not see the obvious.

When a bunch of mug punters can see the problem, its beyond fathomable why the 'experts' don't. The big stumbling block in my view has been undeserved arrogance on the part of senior people at the club but they all walk away with full pockets while the mug punters get left with the mess.

Geez I hope Roly goes back to St Kilda and finishes what he started....wrecking the joint

Many of us here agree with the author above, the players should turn up with the effort, the coaches work on the skills. I think that is why Summa was shunted, and it may have had something to do with Kirk going as well.

Well, the new coach certainly knows what needs to be tidied up. Interesting to read in the Worst that the Eagles got rid of Scott Selwood because, despite putting in the effort, he couldn't get his kicking up to the standard they wanted. I guess we need to bite the bullet and do the same. So goodbye Ed Langdon.

A couple of seasons ago I suggested (I think here) that when kicking for goal at training there be a pair of posts 3m apart in the centre of the goals, with sensors attached so that whenever a ball went between them they flashed purple. If the kick misses, a claxon should sound. Immediate feedback that you can't hide from.

RR. It's possible the only reason Ed's kicking is sub par is because the head coach didn't think practicing skills was good idea. Get a decent coach who understands the primacy of skills and Ed could very well be elite.

The club should leave no stone unturned to keep him.

The head coach thought that group training wasn't the right place to practice your skills. He thought you could go off and do that on your own. He was probably wrong, as you have to practice skills in a pressure environment, and you can't do that too well on your own. Except set shots at goal - just about the only thing you can practice on your own. So my goal kicking practice argument is silly - players can get better at that on their own. And its worth noting that Fyfe showed particular improvement in his set shot kicking this year (and a little in his field kicking, but not as much).

So we need more practice at kicking and hand balling under pressure. And we need to make sure that the pressure is the same type as in a match.

For those still interested, this just in from a Saints fan mate. "Lyon will never walk in the door at Moorabbin again !'. I would have posted in the thank-Ross thread but hey are not thankful to Roly for leaving them a mess that took years to rebuild. Hopefully after 4 years of bottoming out, we are nearer to being competitive than they were when Roly jumped ship.
