Not sure Walter but Pagan comes to mind in respect to an underage coach who had considerable success. Sumich, simply hasn't been am underage state coach and his departure from Fremantle had more to do with challenging Lyon, I am led to believe, rather than competency. Let's not forget, before their fallout, Lyon endorsed Sumich as a senior coach in waiting. As for falling out with Lyon, Sumich was not the only one. People sing the praises of Brett Kirk. I understand that he didn't leave Freo simply for a change. Anyhow, it's all conjecture but Sumich has good connections with the up and coming WA raised players. Did he not endorse and implore local clubs to take a punt on Stack? Let's see what happens. Most of all, for all of our sakes, let's hope that whoever coaches Fremantle places an emphasis on skills and more faith in their players playing their natural game, rather than guarding space. Cheers.
