This has me at real 6s and 7s
On the one hand I could see on Saturday that the players are still playing for him, especially the leaders like Sandi, Fyfe, Walters, Mundy.
They say he is changing, I have never seen a more dichotomous team, on our good days we can beat the best Geelong, Collingwood, GWS on our bad days we can lose to the worst Gold Coast, Melbourne. A good mate of mine who isnt an AFL follower but is involved in soccer in the UK told me this was indicative of a young team forming up and it looked pretty positive to him. Im still not sold on it.
This season we have seen the gap between our best narrow but it is still a pretty big chasm.
Personally I think his race is run here and we should have a new coach at the end of the season.
if the board have decided he coaches next year i hope they put in place a good succession plan and bring in Assistant coaches who will challenge the status quo and can step up into a senior role if our results dont continue to improve. If we arent in the top 6 next year then it has to be bye bye and if things arent good by the bye round then we need to act.
Who are the good assistants out there we can acquire to be the next step. Will Mitchell come back west for us? If Luke Hodge retires with his 5th premiership.would he be interested in coming over?
i dont think Sumich is the answer I think we need someone with extensive recent experience, perhaps Justin Longmuir?
i am very vexed and perplexed.
