Doesn't matter - Jason did very well. It was a tough gig, half his hometown was there, lots of hoopla during the days before (albeit an attempt to deflect criticism of the club admin), a cocky top of the table opponent, depleted defence and not much pleasure toiling away in the WAFL. Put all that together and he was excellent.

I don’t mean any disrespect to JC but I’m struggling to see that this was anything more than a reasonable debut. Let the young guy develop before we talk him up. His YouTube highlights certainly point to a player with lots of upside but I didn’t see them yesterday. That’s not being negative I just think some folk are reading a lot into a first game performance.

He kept a dangerous forward in Meiers very quiet and stood Gary Ablett Jnr at times. More than held his own I thought and minimal errors. Good start young man.

Barlow Rnd 1 2010 against Adelaide was the best debut of any AFL player ever. Why we axed him I’ll never know. But that’s for a different thread altogether.
JC showed us he can play at this level, and gave us some glimpses of he’ll turn into, almost like S Hill when he first played, speed, great disposal and tough. It was a very promising debut.

Isnt it fantastic that he got to go around with Gaz for a bit?
What an education that'd have been for him. Should be more of that, whack a young bloke on a pivotal player, and let them work out where they need to be....rather than protecting them & running them of the bench for small amounts of time.

Didn't take note of who Brayshaw was on yesterday, but you'd love him to get a fair bit of what Joel Selwood has got.... He did some mammoth tackling yesterday, so he's got a fair bit of it already....
