Jones missed a couple of games due to injury, but judging by the stats yesterday he got towelled up by Claremont’s young ruckman, Goddard. There is talk of him being a draft prospect this year.

I reckon he's got 7 games left in him if we can win the next 7 we play.

If we don't then I reckon he's looking fit enough to go round again if he doesn't mind playing second fiddle to Darcy in 2020.

Banfield has been given a real good crack at it by Lyon this year then, KK???

I think that the Sandi/Darcy combo can be a winner again next year, as long as they both spend as much time as is possible on the ground when playing in the same team. For a bloke who is regarded as slow, Darcy does some bloody good work by hand and foot when the footy hits the deck. Freo mids also got into better positions at bouncedowns and ruck contests around the ground yesterday when Darcy was rucking.

I'd be happy for Sandi to go around again next year if he doesn't blow another gasket.

I rate Banfield highly and think he could break into our best 22 but who should have been dropped to give him a regular game this year?

Bewley, Colyer, Switkowski? Hill, because he should never have played when unfit.

I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this before, I love Sandi, and I think could probably lead the ruck quite adequately for another year if fit.
I don’t mind the idea of keeping him on the list but this would be purely as a back up for Darcy and Lobb. We need these two to be our combination going forward.
I’ve only seen Meek play in pre season games and not at WAFL level, I think he has potential.

Yes I'd keep him, we do get a lot of injuries to our talls and the young guys can learn so much from him particularly how he goes about it during a game rather than just at training.

Sandi won the game for us yesterday its not just his ruck work but his presence in the packs and in the clearances, he may not touch the ball but he gets his big frame in the way and opens up space for our players in the congestion. We are a far better team when he is on the park and fit.

Sandilands suits Lyons style of game and previously we had him and some big all terrain brutes running through the midfield. We still have a couple but it’s not quite the same as when we had Barlow, Crowley, Mundy and Fyfe supported by Mzungu and Suban.

I don’t think Andrew Brayshaw and some of our other young players are quite in the same mould so we have to play a bit different to get the wins. I am hopeful we can transition to a more skilful way of moving the ball forward rather than brute force and we did show glimpses of that on the weekend. At least there was less bombing it into the forward 50 because we rarely had anyone there capable of taking a mark.

You'd have to think that the players don't get as tired when Sandi is rucking, because nice clean clearances mean less time on the ground fighting for the ball.

The ball was still bombed in plenty, but Darcy in particular, and Sandi did a good job deep in attack of bringing the footy to ground to our advantage. Had a certain left-footer been a footy player, we would probably have won by 10 goals.

Put him on the rookie list next year. With 269 games under his belt, clearly he needs to go back there.

Sandi is an old school clubman. Didn't he offer to step down earlier in the season to free up a spot (and salary cap)?
He might prefer to step away and push lawnmowers around, plus, he won't want to be carried on a big salary for a few games.
Whatever.
We shouldn't insult the great man by re-rookie'ing him, unless you ask very very nicely.
