Keep Sandi as backup ruckman, in place of Jones who tries hard but struggles at AFL level and did not get a game this year, despite our injuries to talls.
Big Sean is going to be a good ruckman for us; he will be fitter with a good pre-season. May not be too mobile as yet but I liked his game in the forward line halving the contest with those big Geelong backs.
Meek has potential and like some others just needs to be given a chance. That reminds me of Malthouse's observation on Saturday morning, when asked about Ross as a finishing coach: Lyon tends not to play the young players when they hit good form in the reserves. Examples thrown up were North and Dixon. When they were turning in good performances for Peel early in the season, Ross didn't consider them for a debut. Then they got injured. Grumpy's point being that youngsters can get demoralised when they are not rewarded, their form tails off, and it's easy to then point the finger for not 'writing their own story'. It's uncomfortable that the Top Brass are still focused on finals, must be a KPI with dire consequences I think. The win was great but the succession plan should have been in place long before being forced by injuries yesterday.
