I was at the ground an hour early today - I try to get there about 45 minutes before bounce down. In wandering around, I noticed the little-uns on the other side of the ground participating in organised kick and handball games and relays. While this was going on, Son Son entered the arena and was doing a light jog, bouncing the footy and kicking and hand balling to himself.
A few of the kids - and they would have been about 7 years in age - wandered away from their game just to look at him. Son Son, waved and jogged over to them. For the next few minutes he did a little kick to kick and handball with those children. No photographers. No marketing. He just made today a really special day for a handful of the next generation.
It is the little things that make Mikey a great man.
