All it takes is Kersten popping up and saying there is no truth to the article. After all, he's the focus of the article and if there is no truth in it then he has a significant interest in seeing the record corrected.

Of course, part of the separation negotiations might involve one of those NDA things that people can point to and say they are prevented from confirming anything.

That there is no evidence stated in the article. Doesn't mean there is no evidence whatsoever.
Journos tend to protect their sources carefully.
When an entity volunteers no meaningful information, save to announce extended contracts for a manager and a player, the resulting vacuum is an open invitation to speculate. This is the busiest Dockerland Wednesday ever, i reckon.
That article might be idle journalism but what is the 3rd estate to do when the club offers only spin?

Rather than an actual incident, I would think that Kersten was frustrated with the way he was being played, and not played, and the lack of a forward structure to work in and the lack of a clearly defined role that he could work on. And being played in defence at Peel wouldn't have helped. Nor the never ending foot injury.

Sure, he could have played better but he did as well as any of our forwards have done. He wasn't given much to work with.
