...gets sacked and manages to find himself a calf specialist (guru) for surgery within weeks.

All the best to him and I hope we get to see him playing in the bigs at least one more time.

I'm normally pretty supportive of the club, but if we missed this calf "guru" for 4 years and he salvages a few years of an AFL career, it's time for a good old fashioned lynching!

Just read this too Straddo, I have zero confidence in our fitness staff at present and the whole lot should be the first to go in any review starting with Weber. Everybody is criticising the coach yet the single glaring impediment to our chances this year is our inability to keep close to our best 22 on the park. This is an area that I'm sure Belly has some control over and not be vetoed by Rosich.

If this proves to be successful it would be the biggest case of incompetence I would’ve witnessed in my time watching football.
If I was Bennell I would take out a lawsuit against the football club reflecting this.
It is only another surgery and hasn’t worked yet. A bit hard to take after I have spent the best part of two days trying mount a case for things not being as bleak as they appear.
Can you imagine the ribbing we will cop if he gets it right and gets back to playing AFL.

Interesting conundrum that. After due consideration, if HB were to get his calf right, was picked up by the West Coast Eagles and have some good games, I'd be thinking 'good outcome, son'.

The thing is he could be picked up as a rookie for pretty much next to nothing so it would be worth the risk for most clubs if he stays fit until the draft.

A lot of clubs would at least invite him to training over the preseason to see how he goes. I don’t know what there was to gain by us parting ways with him before the end of the season other than it consuming some time from our fitness and medical staff. Perhaps Harley asked to be released so he could try and get fit on his own? Couldn’t say I could blame him for taking that approach......and I hope he nominates for the draft and gets picked up somewhere.
