Let me start by saying: I think Banfield should be playing in the bigs. He’s good enough and he’s earned it.
Having said that, I reckon the logic is Mundy, fyfe and Walters need midfield minutes for us to win right now. Conca is the defensive muscle, and is there to play defensive mid. Blakely, Brayshaw and Cera get midfield minutes to work them into the mix and develop, but they play one at each end mostly to keep them on the Park. Add Hill and Langdon on the wings and the midfield is full.
So where does BB fit? Replace Conca maybe, but he’s been solid IMHO. Does he replace Mundy or Fyfe and use them as forwards mostly? Would solve our forward problem maybe but leaves us thin for experience in the guts.
If Bailey wants in then I reckon he needs a second position, like Brayshaw or Cera, and I reckon this is the stuckong point. He’s not suited to another role - he is midfield muscle. If it’s between him and switta up forward, I want switta.
Personally, I reckon push Mundy/Fyfe forward and lose one of the rucks. But I think Roly wants the height.
