Look at how west coast are bringing Allen and Cameron along and compare it with how Fremantle are developing players like Darcy. Cameron was a reserves/colts player at swan districts last year and when given a game in league looked out of his depth. Surround him with very good players in the afl (and the oppositions weakest defender) and he looks a world beater. Same as Allen, who looks ready to go already and will take over from Kennedy or Darling eventually. In contrast, Fremantle just tell Darcy he has to lead the ruck, despite not being ready and because the two other ruckmen on the list are not good enough, despite being older. To some degree the same applies to Cerra and Brayshaw who in an ideal world would be playing more wafl footy at the moment because the midfield strength is holding them out.
Outside the top 20 or so players Fremantle’s list is exceptionally poor. West coast have a number of players dominating at wafl level that can’t get a look in.
Anyway I am not really sure what the point of this post is but I reckon Fremantle should target Waterman in the off season.
