Despite all you've seen, heard, smelt, felt and tasted this week, this derby is not all about Freo.

West Coast need to perform here.
They have GWS and the Crows on their ladder heels.
A loss could put top 2 in danger.
A loss followed by a loss to Collingwood next week could put top 4 in danger.
They've lost more quarters than they've won this year.
Their game hinges on Yeo and Cripps (ha!) and the greenish-yellowy dressed bunch more than just about anything else.
They are favourites, and despite all the talk of derby results being unpredictable, just how many have actually been won by the odds-on underdog? Very few.
The heat is all on them. They woudn't want to drop the ball here...hey, Jack.

Pressure!

...and right on cue, out comes a story on Bradley's partner being homesick and Harley copping a dole check on the eve of his first born's appearance into the world.

Yeah, they're worried - pity Carlton wasn't last week.

Yep. It's made me sick, the amount of peripheral guff flowing this week and, without exception, consciously and subconsciously twisted into a set Freo up for a fall message.

The reach of their top men is much greater than ours.

Well, I've had enough!

Shuey's going to try and duck his way into last quarter free kicks in the forward half. Naitanui's good but really not that good. Oscar Allen is the Jack Watts of the west. There was a radio commentator this week blabbing about how good Jack Darling and the bearded clam are defensively in their forward line - puh-lease! Rumour has is that Children's Television Workshop are contemplating suing Gaff for copyright infringement on Bert's eyebrows. Chris Masten is just...there.

All they have is a zone setup and swing it off high undirected kicks to McGovern and Hurn pinged to front runners like Cripps and Sheed for gifted goals that win them games.

They can't handle tough stuff. They can't handle mano-a-mano contests across the ground. Their underbelly is soft. Their facade is ripe for exposure.

One of the teams beat 15th by a kick last week. The other lost to 17th by a kick last week. Not much in it, I'd say.

Not much in it?

Well, not until you put things in some sort of context.

One team played away from home against a team led by arguably the best coach in the game who got out to a handy lead. That team was coached by a protege of the opposition coach and so knew most of what he would be facing.

So they beat 15th by a kick.

The other team was at home and playing against the worst performed team in the last decade. They got out to a 5 goal lead and then lost the game to a terrible team coached by a rank rookie.

Add to that the record of the last 10 derbies and how those games were won and lost (same way each time)

I think there is a pretty clear reason why one team is the favourite and the other team isn't.

Structurally the last two weeks we have put our worst team on the park all year. The combination of Lobb and Sandi must be better than a sore Darcy and a not ready Cox.
Fyfe hasn’t played in the last two derbies, and the eagles form has been patchy, they don’t play four quarters.
It will probably be slippery. The Eagles haven’t been great in these conditions. We also struggled last week with these, possibly why we brought in Colyer and Crowden this week.
I think we are reasonably well equipped to deal with Kennedy and Darling, I am more concerned about their small forwards.
We are underdogs, but this derby is far from a forgone conclusion.

So long as we get a fair deal by the green maggots, then I'll be content.
