TOPIC: Sturt Peel

Hamling has been recruited during Lyon’s time and gone from a fringe backman at the bulldogs to one of the first picked at Fremantle. Rory Lobb was having probably his best season in the afl under Lyon until injury. Matera is having his best season in the afl under Lyon.

I could go on. You will blame him for invading Poland next.

You’re getting silly now. Have a look at some of the other club injury lists, not just the WC who for some fluke are skating through relatively injury free....there is no footy God.

The AFL game as it is played now is recording record numbers of injuries. When the AFL wake up that may change.

Goodie, none of those players you mention played for their previous club in the way they are forced to play at Freo, Lobb showed at GWS he is an AFL player, nothing he has done here has been any better. Matera, well Matera is Matera, but his natural game does not suit Lyon's tactics. Hamling was ready to show his ability when he got the chance of a lifetime at the Bulldogs, and would have been amongst the first picked there over the next 3 years, had he stayed.

When did Poland get invaded? I thought all the action was in the Persian Gulf and the SOuth China Sea at the minute.

Oh, Goodie and if he did invade Poland, I don't think they would be worried, he would send a couple of scout armoured cars over the border and pull his tanks & air force & army back 30 miles inside his own territory.

Who's blaming Lyon. He's the one who wanted a review of our continual injury concerns at the end of last year. Nothing has changed since. We've still got continual injury problems and we heard nothing about the review.

Why compare yourself to those doing badly with injuries? We're always among them. I would have thought it was better to improve and aim to be like those who have few injuries instead of saying we are unlucky......again and again.

I fully expect that the Other Team in town will have a vastly swelled (adj. swollen) injury list after Saturday night.

Are you certain you shouldn't have used the adjective, swollen?

If he did invade Poland, most of the place would be in no danger at all.
Anyone near the border would have a few problems, but those inland wouldn't know he was there....

Wow, you guys are amazing (and a touch obsessed). Within a few posts, a topic that started off as an enquiry about a young bloke returning to the AFL has morphed into another Ross Lyon analysis. How’s this for a radical idea; start a “Ross Lyon analysis” post.

Then you fellas turn it into a "Tabs is no good", "Wilson can't kick" "Darcy is lazy" analysis.

Goodie you lost me at 'Lyon turned Hamling from a fringe backman..'.
It's hardly Lyon-bashing to point out that Hamling came to Freo as a young but recognised high-quality backman, whose loss was a factor in the Bulldogs' premiership hangover. Getting him on board was still a good coup, of course.

Back on Sturt, he has the benefit of growing his game at Peel, whereas Cerra and Brayshaw - and Crowden - were brought straight in and tired towards the end of last season. Crowden wasn't ready at all.
Where we are at the moment, the selectors need to pick their strongest team to try to make finals, but some of these guys give us a future to look forward to.

We don't like to think about this, but what is the succession plan for Mundy, who looks tired? Peel watchers, is Sturt that guy?

I'm surprised no-one has used the Sturt Pea gag yet.....but there's plenty of time to watch Polyanna ply his trade.
