Seriously Brad Hardie?

I'm now listening to Perth media types talk of his outstanding service to football.

I really don't agree with it.

Hardie played 150 games of AFL. He had three great seasons. The majority of his football for Brisbane was truly mediocre. He sooked when Malthouse asked him to play on a man and walked out on the club.

His time in the media has in no way contributed to the game. Think it poor he got selected.

Look no further than Ken Hunter for the appropriate selection criteria.

Yeah, you might be missing the point.

He doesn't have to earn it through on field or off field contributions to footy. He doesn;'t need that because he has a media profile. Remember we are talking about an organisation that doesn't put any regard on the integrity of the game but rather whatever earns the quids gets priority.

This is why the AFL has a fixture not a draw. This is why a peak 'sporting' body has an official brewing partner and an official betting partner....seriously, a peak 'sporting' body.

Promoting somebody with an impressive and long term history does not promote the game if people have forgotten about them (except footy tragics) You need an established media profile for the publicity because that attracts the dollars.

So yeah, expect KLangdon one day....if he maintains his media profile.

No such thing as bad publicity, right

I thought Simon Black was a definite? What a player...dodgy origins but a a champ nevertheless.

When you read the names of the unrecognised players in this article, and those names prompt recall of other stars of days gone by, you have to seriously wonder at the cheek of the AFL to call it "The Australian Football Hall of Fame"

Not Eligible For The Ch7 Hall of Fame???

Replace his VFL Best and Fairest medal with a Sandover. Do you reckon he gets in?

I cant stand the bloke either but those knocking his on field achievements are sadly mistaken.
He was a jet from Colts age all the way to retirement.
The amount of awards he won stand testament to his ability.
You dont get into the Hall of Fame if you are a mug and especially if not many like you.
Well done Brad

It's not that he wasn't a great footballer, it's just that I think people consider the idea of a Hall of Fame as a place for exceptional footballers.

I think Ken Judge is now in line for the Hall of Fame, which I wouldn't have thought prior to last night.

Thanks for the link RM.

It is a crook system. I think Hardie is a fair choice to get in but the bias to VFL contribution is appalling.

I have no idea whether he should be in or not, it’s at the edge of my footy memories, but he had an impressive baulk on him for a tubby ginger with thighs the size of tree trunks.

My main memory is of him kicking a “goal” on the run clearly after the siren to “win” a semifinal against Claremont.

Travesty.
