I reckon, without having any inside knowledge, that HB spent less time running marathons, and more time honing his skills at GC, than at Freo. I can see where Lyon & Co thought that more running might be the answer to his problems, but at what point do they stop and think maybe they got it wrong? After Taberner, Hogan, Pearce, and who else are destroyed by a flawed ideology?

I don’t actually think we’d be in a better place if we copied Gold Coasts training practices. Maybe Harley would have played a few more games but doubt if we would have won more games. There’s a lot more running in football now then there was several years ago when Harley was first starting out at Gold Coast.

Time for a hard call. I cant take this any more. If they are going to continue down the current line we will be sweating on HB every time he steps foot on the park. I’d love to have seen him play a few in the seniors but I probably would have spent most of those games holding my breath and checking on whether he is limping.

The risk was worth the possible reward but it might be a case of adding HB’s name to Morabito and, to a lesser extent, Pitt. Some players have no luck.

Such a shame. I know how much the anticipation built for me each time he was nearly ready to appear, and the disappointment each time he was injured again. I can only imagine how hard this has been for him.
I hope we are able to offer some options after footy to secure him and his family a fruitful future.
