I'm not taking anything back because I think, and so did most others here, that we're sitting about where we predicted pre-season.
As was pointed out, we've got the best squad we've had in years, we've got a really good draw and we've been relatively injury free for a change, barring long term ones to two or three good players.
We've had two joyous and unexpected wins to good sides but we've also had some really disappointing unexpected losses to weak and injury hit sides.
Judging by early season tipping, the majority of posters had us in and around the eight, which is exactly where we are now.
Can't see why anyone is going overboard with excitement at this stage.

The 1st half of yesterday's game was full of errors and only 28 points on the board. I'm sure I wasn't the only one at half time lambasting their style of play.

Credit to them in the 2nd half, they had a good 3rd quarter, turning a 13pt deficit into a 4pt lead, before losing it in the 4th and winning it with the last score of the quarter.

If that's the blueprint to winning games clearly I'm out of touch.

I didn't say we weren't doing okay, in fact that's exactly what I was saying...we are okay. How can you be anything but okay, when you're outside the eight and have won one more game than you've lost? I also think there a few other okay sides around us too, some good ones above us and some poor ones below.

But please, enough with that youngish side baloney. Geelong have played 12 players this year with less than 50 games so that reason just doesn't cut it.

OK so I was the one talking of cleaning the gutters Pollyanna.
Actually found myself in Denmark for the festival of Voice searching vainly for somewhere with the footy on. Reduced to tracking the score on phone during the open rehearsal; Walters took the last kick just as the conductor - at his farewell gig - asked the participating audience for their thoughts. Unable to hold back, I just shouted out the score. Got some cheers, a pained look from the conductor, frowns from the Eagles supporters and I'll probably be banned next year but hey what a buzz! Drove back today looking forward to watching the playback: as penance, will do the gutters first.
As for Ross well 5 years of 'rebuild' at seven figures a year and apparently no get-out clause, is still a reckless gamble with members money, when quite a few of the cut players have gone on with other clubs.
Once bitten, twice shy. If you're going to extend, let it be a year at a time, with strong performance measures and at the going rate.

Capt, how do you arrive at 5 years?
2015 we finished top of the table with no mention of a rebuild. 2016 we bottomed out and embarked on Lyon’s restump. This equates to 3 drafts since.
I don’t understand it when people claim we have been rebuilding for longer than this.

Interesting list of scores there, Awake.

Looking at those, it seems fairly consistent that goal front accuracy was noticeably lacking. If only somebody told him that kicking was a skill that needed to be practiced

For us to beat Collingwood away is a great achievement. To do it attacking the corridor and taking risks a triumph.

There were skill errors and there were moments of brilliance. After 51 years on this earth I can honestly say one of the biggest things that hold people back is our inability to accept fact as a result of our bias.

I can't stand Lyon, I have my reasons. But a great job on Saturday no doubt.

We just beat Collingwood at the MCG!!!!

The defence is so organised, and the midfield doing such a great job considering it looks undermanned at times, you can only wonder why the forward line, and forward entries, remain such a shamozzle. There is a fair bit of talent down there.
