TOPIC: The %!*#^! bus to the stadium

Is anybody else noticing a big drop off in the service standards of the bus to the stadium?

Last season it was pretty good, but this season it has been getting worse and worse. We missed the first few minutes of the game yesterday and half of the first quarter a fortnight ago, while being at the bus stop at the same time we always have. We are on the second last bus stop on the way to the stadium - yesterday we waited 25 minutes and in that time two full buses went past. The fortnight before there were more buses, but they were all full. It looks like Transperth have cut back their service levels.

Maybe people were running late up the line?

and there was a train on platform 6 for the Armadale line but we had to wait for ages for one to come on platform 5 as that was leaving first. It's not like they don't know when game finishes.

I think the challenge for Transperth is scheduling the optimal amount of resources in light of dwindling attendances.

Now take the Eagles, and Morgan will back me on this one, they get the numbers through every home game so its easy to plan. But they are a well run football club with a sustainable game plan.

So yeah the buses not running on time is Ross Lyon's fault.

Ahhhhh, that's why three come at once all clustered together. Of course.

Hypen, I know a bus driver who on one occasion was one of those 3 buses that all arrive together on Canning Hwy. An angry commuter told him he was 30 minutes late, to which he replied that one of the other buses was 30 minutes late, the other was 15 minutes late, but he was running on time...

Same on Canning Highway: full buses driving straight on. I thought it could be due to the game schedule, with pre-game events shifting the start time. Let's see next time.

Our bus 654 keeps getting rocks and sticks pelted at it by the same youths as we leave Tonkin Hwy and turn onto Canning Hwy on the way to the game. All whilst providing a wonderful community service of cleaning windows of waiting cars.
Yesterday was quite scary as the young clowns targeted windows with kids and elderly with quite large rocks.
Real heroes - much more blatant and pronounced than previous attacks. My young kids were really scared.
I would love the driver to open the door so a few of us could teach them a lesson.

Another incident on the way home was the driver not stopping at all stops.
When punters were able to get off to walk back a few stops in the dark the driver mentioned it was a limited stops bus - sounded like BS to me as there was no mention of that as they piled in as many in as they could..

Catching the bus to the game??

Why don't you just catch a ride on Shane's boat?

....oh, wait a minute....

Isn't it the chauffeur's job to worry about getting one to the game on time?

Unless of course he's organised to have the car detailed on game day, in which case one summonses the stand-by Bentley and has Butler fire the chauffeur's sorry ass.

More often than not I'm jumping on the bus from Dutch Trading Company in Vic Park, which I think is the last stop for a couple of different routes to the stadium. They leave regularly, and most still have a couple of seats.

I tend to grab a beer in the Skyview before heading home, so if there are delays on the way out I tend to miss them.

Given they built the stadium on a peninsular I had low expectations about how easy it would be to get to the stadium, but on balance I reckon the public transport has been better than I expected.

Never had a problem with the public transport. Get the bus into the city 3 hours before game and go and have a drink at the Grosvenor. Then trundle down to the Terrace and get the 661 straight to the ground, takes about ten minutes and the buses come along every five minutes.

Im one of those Northern Dockers. So I grab the train at about 210, its packed but if you pick the right carriage there is a chance you will get a seat. and am at the ground by about 240, then I have to wait at the gate for some idiot to empty the contents of his house out of his backpack, argue with security why he has to bring an aerosol deodorant to a footy game and I eventually get in the ground. Then its a beer and sit down for the game.

After game quick pint at the camfield and then grab the last express bus up North that leaves at 650. its almost empty so brilliant

I reckon the public transport is great.

It's a nice walk Shane, but with a few kids in our crew dragging their feet, a few pints under the belt, and 10 minutes at the stadium gates, it's getting dangerously long between pit stops.
