Tabs was doing alright with his foot issue until a taxi drove past with the radio blaring away about a Lyon contract extension causing him to drop the full pot of pea and ham soup on his injured foot.

The ongoing injury might explain his goal-kicking woes.

From AFL site.

"It frees up a list spot for the draft for Freo, which has been linked to Peel small defender Jarvis Pina and former North Melbourne midfielder Declan Mountford, now back at Claremont"

Why would we be interested in a small defender when it's our one stable area? Whose place would he take?

Mountford has been pretty good without being outstanding. Is a strong tackler, but not a goal kicking midfielder. Besides we've got a stack of midfielders playing at Peel that haven't been tried yet.

Forward line doesn't get a mention but I would have thought a mercurial goal kicker like Michael Bennell is far more in line with what we need.

Don't see the point in picking someone who is more than likely to be playing at Peel.

*just checked and Pina (Colada)is a colts player that they must see something in.

Declan Mountford really does look like an AFL footballer, which is not to say he is one.

I've got a bunch of North fan mates, and they rated him. They thought he got a couple of bad injuries at really inoportune times, so he should fit in reasonably well at Freo.

Are you saying he's played with this injury for his entire career, CaptSnooze?

We need a lockdown small defender so we can defend more

The MRI will look closer at tissue and the CT more at skeletal...I think.
They are talking about Tab's running style/mechanics. Up the creek in other words.

Well then you can expect Hogan to go down in a heap again in the near future. I’m no expert and he can’t help it but he’s got a major off centre aberration with one of his feet when he runs, and is likely to cause another problem for him.

It’s a no brainer. If your feet aren’t landing properly on the turf it’s bound to cause stress to the foot structure.

So if through the game plan, your feet are forced to land on the turf more often, you are more likely to suffer this injury? Am I on the right track here??

I’d say the recruiting plan should come before game plans, and if you haven’t got a good recruiting plan (with appropriate medical checks and clearances) then you’re rooted.

You are making a big assumption there Noddy, most of these fellas are ok when they get to Freo.

I like your thinking Noddy.

So out we go then and use our second draft pick last year on Valente and the first thing we decide to do is change his running style. He has burst onto the WAFL scene since and is averaging 13 disposals as a midfielder.

You really have to wonder about our recruiters.

Really disappointed for Taberner, felt he had established himself, and was one of the bright lights for the season.
Top ten for marks, marks inside fifty and contested marks, according to guys on purple reign podcast. Can’t think of many other players we would have in top ten of anything.
Really unfortunate that he has gone down at the same time as Darcy. I was hoping to see a combination of Darcy in the ruck with Lobb, Taberner and Hogan forward.
I suppose Cox gets a reprieve and McCarthy gets another run despite neither’s form really warranting selection.
