As I flicked from election to football it's clear that things are not going to change with my country or my football club for a long time. To engineer change you've got to be able to recognise the need for it. And on both fronts we're not there yet.

The idiots who maintain the status quo of both have won and to be honest I'm too worn down to argue any more.

I recorded the game last night and watched it in despair coming home from the polling booth I was at all day and half the night. I sat there and took it - today I'm gutted.

There's nothing to be optimistic about keeping the Bummers to 8 goals 11, forward line entries haven't improved one bit and the opposition still have three free players on the outside of us - whether we're moving forward or back. They can slingshot effectively from a single disruption and we spend most of the night running in circles after the ball or setting up for another stoppage after grinding out 20 metres of hard yakka footy up the boundary.

It's clear that my footy team don't know what to do with the talent that they've assembled, it's clear that my country don't want to reset the division between the corporate rich and those in need. There's nothing down at Peel that's going to change that, there's nothing that's going to alter our willingness to question a winning social agenda that merely name calls an opposition leader as shifty. That's it, more of the same simply isn't going to change anything - the opportunity passed a couple of seasons ago. Now we just have to take it and find whatever moments there are to share a laugh.

The playing group has been completely turned over and there has been very little change in how we play.
We have minimised the losing margins, but this could have been very different had other teams executed better. We have looked very well beaten in some games.
This coaching group is unable to get us playing anything approaching inspiring footy. I don’t even know how I am going to stomach watching the style of footy we have dished up for three weeks.

PS Yes, you do. You see skill and decision errors. Putting one's own time into skill practice is ok, but if it is a recurring issue, isn't it time to make it a greater focus for whole group, ie integrated into weekly regime?
