Just checked the stats in the Peel game and McCarthy had ten touches for one point, hardly banging the door down. Unfortunately very few seem to have impacted, Logue 10 and Valente 9 to mention a few.
I would love to see some of our players be able to go back to the level below, and dominate blokes that need to maintain full time jobs.

Stats are always a little tricky though - Peel were comfortably beaten, didn’t kick a high score and were well beaten in the midfield. You could imagine the frustration of being a key forward under those conditions.

I'm not sure i agree with that Noddy. I don't think there are too many players in any sport that would be just as happy losing as winning. Same for coaches.
But it's also a fact that a coach lives and dies by their win/loss ratio and our coach has failed badly in this regard for a few years now.
He's had a cushy ride due to his stupidly lengthy contract extension and endless rebuilding claims but nobody is able to give any reasons why this should be allowed to continue.
And it shouldn't.

I disagree about the endless rebuild it started after 2016 and has been three drafts for a turnover of 30+ players.
I think the recruiting has been solid and I now see a balanced list that should be competitive. I would say that the rebuild could be considered successful.
The problem is with a rebuilt list the same problems exist.

Since undergoing this very lengthy rebuild why are we still so bad? You would be expecting a rebuild to bring in quality players and send you up the ladder again.
Brisbane have managed it well, but we have shown no progress at all even with what appears to be a better list.
Instead we've got nobody from last year's draft looking like they are worthy of a game and nobody from the previous couple of drafts showing any positive progress. In fact Cox, Cerra and Brayshaw look tired and playing below what was expected.
Ryan has been a great pick at 66 and Duman looks promising and he's from the rookie list but all our early draft picks from recent years have brought no improvement to what our squad was like before the rebuild.
Is this due to the coach, poor draft choices or both?

Seems like a consistent draft outcome. We occasionally pick up middle of the road performers with early picks and then get lucky late in the draft or in the rookie list.

Cox, Cerra and Swit were simply dreadful yesterday. Not questioning Swits endeavour but he constantly finds himself in the wrong areas.

Cerra looks to have packed his bags... nothing worse in footy than squibbing the contest but he didn't go hard at it yesterday and hasnt for a few weeks.

Cox brings nothing. No endeavour or intent. At least McCarthy can kick straight when he gets it and runs all day on a huge tank. Cam making way for Cox is unjust.
