TOPIC: Peel

I feel for the players back at Peel. I feel for all wafl players having to play practice games all year against wc2 and peel. Players returning from injury are "managed" in-game. Strategies are practiced. Deficiencies ironed out. Playing footy is fun and I wonder how much joy there is for our boys at Peel. Let's hope it is not merely an exit gate reinforcing desires to get home for our young interstaters.

"Deficiencies ironed out"

Not so sure about that part Suker.

The point, Randolph, is that Peel is mostly to get players ready for first team...I am merely emphasising how unsatisfying it may be for our Peel guys.
Ironing out deficiencies is what you would expect to happen. It probably isn't. But the point I am badly making is my concern for our young players who are expected to improve at peel but are stifled by the ffc methodology, stifled in the firsts, their skills questioned etc
Restrict the Opposition...that is it. No joy for anyone.

Of course Suke. I knew what you meant, but as we continually see, skill deficiencies for one don't seem to get ironed out but if they are not one of the coaches high priorities I suppose they never will.
It must be hard being a Peel coach too. You don't get to take any training sessions with these guys and you are told where they must play, etc. You don't have the freedom that other coaches do.

As a regular Thunder watcher at all their home games I can confirm they 100% follow Roly`s game plan(if they tried anything else Freo would withdrew their players , end the cash flow and cancel the partnership)
Assistant coaches at Peel are Freo employees /development coaches so they are bound to coach the Roly game plan , otherwise they would be on the dole
Most promising young player we have is Carter but just wait till Roly can wreck him for playing with some attack & flair
For those who watched Saturdays game on TV , big question marks about the future AFL quality of ...
Jones, Giro ,North & Crowden to name a few (they do try but leg speed and kicking skills ?)
Bewely & Schultz are goers but can they make the next grade up?
Big clean out needed at the end of the year and lets bring in some young players with pace and kicking skills (enough of the average tried players come back to WA to top up their retirement super ie Colyer type

OGS, I think you are a bit harsh, given a coach who develops a game plan around the players he has, rather than around the theories he has, we may see some of these fellas make it at the top level. Remember Mickey Barlow, Mick Nolan, Plugger Lockett, Kepler Bradley, Shane Parker? Zac Daws

These player reports tend to emphasise the positive, to give faithful fans some hope for players coming through. So, I was interested in seeing the Cam McCarthy review; a fair old whack, if this is the most positive thing that can be said for his play.
