Very similar also in the fact that they both were ineffectual for three quarters then in the last finally took the game on and played positively.
Darcy went off very early and Jones had to take over on the ruck. In the first quarter he hadn't had a disposal but got better after half time.
Dixon is going nowhere. Seems like another Apeness. Has had injury problems but even when fit shows little impact.
Logue was beaten by guys called up from the ressies due to Claremont's injury toll, for three quarters and then played a great last quarter.
Giro tried hard but his disposal lets him down.
McCarthy spent more time up the ground and even doing a bit of ruckwork.
Colyer had single digit disposal for three quarters.
There was nobody that you thought if called up would make an impact.

Crowden started well but faded, North and Bewley, got the ball but was surprised when I saw their stats, how often. Seemed ineffectual. Valente was virtually unsighted.

Bolton was head and shoulders the best midfielder out there.

Fremantle should have taken Bolton at the end of last season ahead of either Bewley or Schulz, because neither looks up to the grade at this stage. But apparently the vfl is so much better.

We decided to go with Bewley as an experienced big bodied midfielder over Bolton.

Well the comparison between the two this year is like chalk and cheese.

Bolton 33.2 disp... 38 marks... 27 tackles... 4 goals

Bewley 20.6 disp ... 20 marks... 21 tackles... 0 goals.

No stats on inside 50s which is another of Bolton's strengths or disposal effeciency. Bewley is 25, Bolton is 27.

Bolton comes to Freo, Bewley stays in the WAFL, and you could almost certainly reverse those stats.

Difficult for Freo to draft Bolton at 27 years old when we’ve got rid of Barlow and De Boer at a similar age. No doubt Barlow would be getting a lot more disposals than Bolton if he was playing WAFL.
