Given the relative strengths and weaknesses of our team at present, if you were gifted two players in the AFL right now, who would they be?

For me its Stephen Coniglio and Toby Greene.

Need some pace and skill through the midfield and a small forward with goal kicking capability and a bit of bite around the packs.*

Wouldn't matter. We have a coach with the unique ability to turn players who look a million bucks in other teams into plodders who should be dropped to Peel.

Sorry for the negativity but I found Sunday's game very difficult to deal with.

Hmmm...probably Lachie Whitfield and Bontempelli. Whitfield to give a hand to Langdon/ B. Hill running from defence to deliver with decent foot skills to the forwards, and Bont to give Fyfe a chop out both in the middle and up forward

I reckon you're spot-on Hypen, and Greene would be my first choice.

I think we need a bit of class and pace in the midfield as well. Someone like Coniglio, Treloar or Sheil would be handy.

The frustating thing is that in an alternate simulation where Bennell either had better calves or was managed better, he would be exactly what we need.

Mushroom, as good as Cripps is don’t you think we have what he does at present? Kelly would be more than handy.

I think we will get one of Kelly, Jack Martin or Coniglio at seasons end, and they’d all be great gets for us.

Mundy is like the Eveready rabbit but even he can't last forever. Cripps or Bontempelli would be an ideal replacement.
Plus someone with the skills of Kelly.
Think I'd go for DeGoey before Greene.

I took 'gifted' to mean if we could have anyone.

If it's who we should realistically be targeting, it's Jack Martin. I think he'd be a difference-maker for Freo. But if I were Martin, and been toiling away in obscurity on the Gold Coast for years, I'd probably want to sign with a big club on the up in Melbourne. Assuming Carlton manage to turn improved performances into wins, I reckon that would be a great landing spot for him, and I'm not sure we could offer him better than that unless he wants to come home.
